Introducing Tasty Circus – Food Art And Design Bazaar

Introducing Tasty Circus - Food, Art And Design Bazaar

I always like to tell this story. When I was a little girl, for a while I was an only child. We lived in a company complex with two elderly people for neighbours. The company owned cows, our neighbours had chickens and we were free to roam the massive grounds that harboured rose gardens, mulberry vine walkways, spectacular banyan trees with hanging roots that were my daytime swings, burgeoning mango trees that were a bounty of golden sweet fruit and lush lawns everywhere the eye could see. I had a blessed childhood.

The lack of other children for company might be responsible for my very wild and uninhibited imagination. I concocted tall tales even as a child and scribbled them in tiny little notebooks that I made with stapled sheets of paper. I drew in them, I stuck things in them, I had fun. One of my favourite solo games to play was to carry a homemade set of scales created from recycled ice cream cups and a coat hanger to the garden. I had managed to source a cardboard box sectioned with compartments. My mum would fill each individual section with different dried grains and beans. My favourite were chickpeas and kidney beans. I would sit under the massive banyan tree and hawk my wares to pretend garden folk (read fairies and birds here!). If I close my eyes today, I can picture my 5 year old self sitting under that tree. I can feel the warmth of the filtered rays of sun streaming down from the branches and kissing my face. I can hear the hum of a bee, the melodious chirping of the cuckoo bird and the smell of the gorgeous red flowers of the Gulmohar (Royal Poinciana) tree that I was fond of munching on every now and then. It is one of the most poignant memories of my childhood, one of the happiest ones.

Thirty years onwards, I am very excited to have a real shop unlike the pretend one I had as a child. It has a been a dream in the making. It has taken a while but here I am with Tasty Circus – A Food, Art And Design Bazaar. Tasty Circus will be a boutique food themed store curated by me every few weeks and will feature my original creations and things I love that may or may not have featured on Cook Republic. I have been asked countless times about the food photography props I feature in my photo shoots on the blog. I am very excited to be able to offer some of them occasionally on Tasty Circus. Tasty Circus will offer delicious handmade beads – the Neckcandy range. Current flavours in the shop are "Macaron Box", "Coffee Cream Fudge", "Choc Chip Peppermint Ice Cream", "Watermelon Pop", "Lemon Granita", "Salmon Sushi" and "Wasabi Train".  These would make some great foodie gifts!

In the coming months, the Tasty Circus store will stock more fantastic food photography props, some of my original food photography prints, food logos, tasty illustrations and a few other surprises. Everything in the shop will be limited edition, one off (sometimes a couple of pieces) and unique. If you miss it, you might not get it again. I have had a few sales last week so make sure you stay in the loop everytime I put up new products by following Tasty Circus on Facebook and Twitter. Don’t forget to subscribe to the Tasty Circus Mailing List for new products, flash sales, discount codes, articles on styling and photography (coming soon!) and free design stuff!

At the moment I am mainly offering shipping within Australia (I do special requests outside of Australia if you absolutely love what you see and need to have it!) but I hope to offer Worldwide shipping widely soon. Hope you like what you see!!
