How is everyone today? Hope you are remembering to stop and breathe every now and then. I know I am trying to. I am also stepping out and sniffing the living daylights out of this lone rose that has bloomed in my garden. It makes me happy. Best smell ever!
If you are viewing this in your browser, you will have noticed the change in the design and layout. The old design was seven years old. Over the years, I had made minor tweaks to it in order to keep up with the times. But it needed more structure, form and functionality. It was time for a complete rehaul. Which is what I set out to do earlier this week. The new design is responsive and retina-ready. If you browse the blog on your smartphones or tablets, you will notice that everything is easier to access. There are no scrolls and the sizes of images and text is perfectly customized to your screens. Try it! Grab your browser window and minimize it. Watch the content flow!
I also wanted a design that showcased all the beautiful images I work very hard on for your viewing pleasure. This design focuses on the photography and content perfectly. With big bold thumbnails and easy navigation it is hard to miss. I am still tweaking some of the earlier posts from 5 years ago, so bear with me. But I would love to hear some of your thoughts on what you think of the minimal no-fuss design.
Google’s Reader will be officially discontinued in July. If you haven’t subscribed to my feed, you might not get new updates then. Best way to do that is to Subscribe To The Cook Republic newsletter. Or Follow Cook Republic on bloglovin’ (which is awesome and I use it too!).
I have also been nominated for the Best Australia Blogs 2013. I would love a vote if you want to head over and share some love or follow the big glaring blue button in the sidebar. Food Bloggers Australia has also published a short fun interview I did for them. Head on over to their site to read.
note – Lead photo is of two eggplants I found one morning at the farmer’s market.
On that note, I leave you with some of my favourite things from April 2013. Keep your eyes peeled for some fun and awesome giveaways in the coming weeks.
