Sexy Brussels Sprouts In Mustard Butter

I don’t do brussels sprouts. Ever! I once knew a brussels sprout that promised me undying love, infinite beauty and true glory. But all it did was leave a bad taste in my mouth. So I kept away, avoided it like the bad boy it was.

Then came a chance meeting with a bag full of these little rough diamonds. I brought them home and smothered them in mustard butter. One in particular caught my eye. It was sexy down to it’s sharp tang and glossy glazed skin. I bit in and *swoons profusely at this point* experienced what can only be described as foodgasm.

Lesson learnt. Don’t give up on that prince even if you constantly come across slimy frogs.

Tanvi, I can totally relate to the horrid taste if they are not cooked right. They are also meant to be eaten almost straight away. You will love this version, I promise! :-)

Have a great weekend as well!

The Brussels sprouts do look very sexy ;-) Mustard sauce is a good add to the recipe. I normally saute them in butter for a few seconds and eat. But this looks a gorgeous treat to enjoy Brussels sprouts!

I’ve never actually had brussel sprouts until recently, I don’t know how and why! I guess if you’re not a cabbage person then these might not tickle your fancy but I adore cabbage!

I haven’t been brought up with brussel sprouts. I’ve only heard about them on tv. Quite often shown in a very negative manner. I ordered a pork dish with brussel sprouts on the side at a tapas bar and they tasted incredible. Not bad for the first time.

I love you simple recipe and lush photos.

I had it once .. in some restaurant. It was grilled. I didn’t mind it. But every time I see them in store .. I ignore them .. something always tells me I will hate them and probably throw them away .. and never ever entertain them at home ! Your recipe making me think twice .. may be these bad boys are not so bad after all !

To the contrary, I love brussels sprouts and have always been looking for a good dressing for it! I use manuka honey, Dijon, extra virgin, salt and fresh black pepper for a nice salad dressing, why didn’t I think of this.

It always seems like the brussels sprout is the forgotten vegetable, but this dish really lets them shine! Can’t wait to get them in our CSA this year =)
